This buying trip started off a dream and ended up with a bag full of antique candelabras on my lap being wheel-chaired onto the plane!
Tamara and I excitedly landed in lovely Paris ready to hit the ground running, immediately liaising with our shipper and transporter, docket books in hand to the famous Marche Aux Puces De Saint-Ouen.
Hmmm, Covid has increased the prices, so a few small purchases were made there before we settled down to our French Onion Soup at our favourite restaurant.
Soon though, the dreaded long haul flight flu bug hit us and took a notch or two off the pace but soldier on we did and wow, there was no stopping us when we reunited with a few of our favourite antique suppliers. Coffee, catchup, bartering then job done.
Paris is busy, beautiful and confusing. Tamara ran her obligatory mile along the Seine, and I got stuck in a construction sites toilet ….... (Yes, we do scour the outer edges for our work)!
Days of scouring villages and antique fairs we were beyond thrilled and left our purchases to our shipping partner to take care of. However, driving through to Italy saw our car being filled with more finds until eventually we had to stop buying for fear of running out of space.
My knee had been a bother to date but it had held up long enough to connect with our family in Tuscany for a wonderful two-week reunion. Much food, laughter and fun didn’t stop the old knee from making me utter those dreadful words “ I must go home and straight to the surgeon”.
So I was duly deposited at Fiumicino airport , popped into a wheelchair with a huge bag of antique candelabras on my knee and sent on my way!
Au revoir & arrivederci for now! xxx
