A small French cruche with a beautifully worn green glaze and a softly timeworn edge.
Compact in scale, with a handled form and pouring spout, it carries the kind of wear that comes from long, everyday use.
DESCRIPTION
A late 19th to early 20th century French cruche, originally used for water or wine.
Thrown in terracotta and finished in a traditional green lead glaze, the surface shows natural variation in tone, with deeper pooling around the shoulder and lighter areas through the body.
The form is simple and familiar — a rounded body, single handle, and a shaped spout for pouring.
Over time, it has developed visible signs of use, including a loss to one handle and chipping to the rim and spout. These details sit comfortably within the piece, giving it a relaxed, lived-in feel rather than taking away from it.
The interior remains fully glazed, and the piece holds together well visually, with a strong overall silhouette.
