An exceptional antique French glass display dome of rectangular form, raised on an ebonised timber base with fine gilt stringing.
The restrained architectural design, original construction and hand-blown glass suggest a high-quality nineteenth-century example. The natural movement in the glass is incredibly beautiful and leaves no doubt this is special, artisanal hand blown glass
Rectangular French domes are significantly harder to source than circular examples and are highly sought after by collectors and decorators alike.
Perfect for displaying busts, architectural fragments, religious objects, natural history specimens or... whatever your imagination can conjure up for this stunning showcase piece, the proportions of this dome make it particularly impactful as a centrepiece display.
