Italian Stone Female Bust of Maria

Maria has a presence that makes her particularly beautiful in an interior. Her softly composed expression, elaborate form and sweeping drapery give the piece a distinctly romantic Italian character.

It is the aged surface that gives Maria much of her individuality. Timeworn colour, markings, tonal variation and imperfections remain visible throughout, settling into the folds of her dress and the sculptural detail of her face and headdress. These are integral to the character of the piece and have been intentionally left untouched.

At 75 cm high, Maria has enough scale to stand confidently on a console, sideboard or pedestal, or to bring height and sculptural form to a larger collected arrangement.
