A remarkable 19th-century Italian giltwood swivel mirror, architectural in scale and exceptionally decorative.
The rectangular mirror pivots smoothly within an elaborate freestanding frame, supported by tall fluted uprights and beautifully carved scrolling feet. A decorative crest crowns the frame, while the aged gilt finish retains the variation, rubbing and patina that gives the piece its depth and character.
The ability to adjust the angle of the mirror makes this more than a decorative piece. Beautiful in a dressing room, bedroom or generous entrance, it has the presence to stand independently as a feature rather than simply being placed against a wall.
An unusual form and increasingly difficult to find, with wonderful sculptural detail from every angle.
