A wonderfully substantial antique European door pull, beautifully aged and impressive in scale.
Dating to approximately the late 19th or early 20th century, this architectural handle features a large cast bronze/brass pull with a gently shaped baluster-form grip, ringed detailing and elegant swept supports, mounted to its original long backplate.
At over 40 cm in overall length, this is a significant piece of antique door furniture designed to hold its own on a substantial entrance or interior door. The generous 9 cm projection also gives the handle a satisfying depth and presence in the hand.
The surface has been left untouched, retaining the wonderful variations in tone, oxidation, rubbing and patina developed through age and use. These are an integral part of the character of the piece and we would not recommend polishing it.
A beautiful opportunity to introduce genuine European architectural detail to a new or historic interior — particularly striking against painted timber, aged oak or a large panelled door.
