A striking French antique jardinière featuring richly sculpted Rococo revival detailing with sweeping scroll corners, floral garlands and shell motifs throughout. This substantial decorative planter has a beautifully softened aged patina with layers of chalky whitewash and natural wear that give it the romantic character associated with old French château garden pieces.

The floor plate (see condition notes below) is heavily aged and broken but we have kept it as it shows the original foundry markings .

Its elongated proportions and highly ornamental form make it equally suited to interior styling or covered outdoor spaces. Beautiful used as a statement centrepiece on a console, filled with loose olive branches or trailing ivy, or displayed sculpturally on its own.

The detailing is particularly refined, with deep relief moulding and elegant asymmetry typical of late 19th to early 20th century French decorative arts.

Dimensions:

Height: 35 cm
Width: 64 cm
Depth: 30 cm

Condition:
Consistent with age and use. Beautiful timeworn surface wear, minor imperfections, weathering and patina throughout which add to its authenticity and charm. Internal floor metal is worn. Replace or use as is

The original internal base plates show age-related deterioration and loss. The decorative cast body remains intact and structurally impressive. We recommend fitting a custom zinc, galvanised steel or marine-grade liner if intended for planting. We can arrange this for you if preferred.

Styling Notes:
Pairs beautifully with limestone, antique timber, Belgian linen and layered European interiors. An ideal statement piece for conservatories, covered terraces, entry consoles or kitchen islands.

Origin:
France

Estimated Age:
Late 19th Century

Please note:

This is an authentic antique item and therefore shows natural signs of age, wear and variation that form part of its character and appeal.
