A beautifully understated original French exhibition poster produced for the Musée de l’Orangerie des Tuileries, Paris, celebrating the work of Albert Marquet (1875–1947).
Held between 25 October 1975 and 5 January 1976, the exhibition honoured one of France’s most admired twentieth-century painters, renowned for his tranquil harbour scenes, luminous coastal landscapes and quiet mastery of colour.
The poster reproduces Marquet’s charming composition of an open window overlooking the sea, with a terracotta vase of fresh flowers in the foreground and a lone sailing vessel drifting across the horizon. The soft palette of sea greens, lilacs and muted pinks makes this a wonderfully decorative piece while remaining an authentic piece of French museum history.
Unlike modern reproductions, this is an original exhibition poster printed in France for the exhibition itself, retaining all of the character and gentle ageing accumulated over the past five decades.

Why We Love It
There is an effortless calm to this poster. It’s gentle
Its restrained colour palette, balanced composition and timeless subject matter allow it to sit comfortably in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Whether framed simply in oak, walnut or antique gilt, it brings European elegance to a room without dominating it with that vintage edge
Styling Ideas
Perfect for:
- Coastal interiors
- Living rooms
- Hallways
- Bedrooms
- Reading corners
- Kitchen shelves and breakfast rooms
- Layered gallery walls alongside antique prints and paintings
We recommend framing with an off-white conservation mount and a simple timber or antique gilt frame.
Condition
Very good vintage condition.
As expected of an original exhibition poster approaching fifty years of age, it displays authentic signs of age including:
- Original handling and storage creases
- Minor edge wear
- Gentle undulation to the paper
- Light age toning
These characteristics are part of the authenticity and history of the piece and have been intentionally preserved.

A Piece of French Cultural History
Each poster in this limited collection was sourced in France and selected for its authenticity, artistic merit and decorative appeal. Rather than concealing the natural signs of age, we celebrate them as part of each poster’s story—small reminders that these pieces once announced exhibitions in some of France’s most respected museums and galleries before finding a new life in contemporary interiors.
